Uzbekistan - Tashkent Workshop Portfolios

The Portfolio day yesterday (8.9.2011) exceeded all my expectations. With Russian as the predominant language and communication of ideas filtered through translation, the results of the weeks task produced some really outstanding photos.

The brief was open - meaning that rather than set a specific theme that they should follow, I wanted each of them to explore any subject freely based on their own existing skills and take it from there. They had just over one week to produce a portfolio of 4 new images that worked as individual compositions and when seen together would be harmonious and strengthen each other.  They were encouraged to take risks and some of them went far deeper into new territory than any of us expected. It was a real thrill to see their final works on the portfolio review day.

The group I worked with were really open to pushing their photographic skills, and with so little time available everyone produced portfolios of 4 images that really worked.

On Friday 9.9.2011 we headed over to the Epson distributor in Tashkent where we had the use of the Epson Stylus Pro 9900. Started at 14:00 and ended somewhere around 8pm having printed one large portfolio shot from each of the participants.

Here then are each of the final portfolios of most of the participants from the Tashkent workshop. You can click on the thumbnails to see the larger versions - then hit the back button on your browser to return to this page.

  2. Thanks Lynda - These people were mostly in their early 20's amateurs all and first Time doing something like this. I was delighted with the outcome.
